CSR
CSR is Australia’s largest sugar producer, running seven mills in North Queensland and manufacturing around 40% of the nation’s raw sugar. In an average year, CSR crushes 15 million tonnes of cane to produce 2.2 million tonnes of raw sugar. This is 4% of the world’s traded sugar.
CSR owns 75% of joint venture interests in sugar refining in Australia and New Zealand and is a major Australian ethanol producer. In the Herbert Region, CSR operates Victoria and Macknade Mills.
Victoria Mill is Australia’s largest sugar mill and the major employer in the Herbert Valley. It’s maximum processing capacity is four million tonnes of cane each season. The dual-milling-train factory can crush more than 1100 tonnes of cane an hour.
Macknade Mill is the oldest mill in Queensland and has been operating since 1874. In 2005 it produced its maximum production of 1.8 million tones of cane crushed.
