The Pests and Weeds Web Portal has been launched as a pilot project to gauge the capacity and interest of the wider community and landholders to become more involved in recording and communicating invasive species observations. The portal operates in a web based delivery environment that utilises off-the-shelf server and enterprise GIS software. Users only require internet access to participate. Registered users are issued with a logon ID and can then access a range of regional mapping and data products for viewing and query in a Google™ Maps environment. Additional utility is provided through ArcGIS enterprise server software for users to record point, line or polygon pest observations using a range of spatial editing tools.

The Pests and Weeds Web Portal will operate for a trial period and focus on a select range of cases studies to both demonstrate and fine tune the application. These case studies and the pilot project will assist project managers to identify the utility, capacity and future development options for the project.

The data collected through this portal will be used to update the 1km grid management index.

OWNERSHIP 2.1 I accept that the DERM / State of Queensland is the owner of the intellectual property rights, including copyright in the licensed data and this agreement does not confer on me any rights of ownership in that licensed data. 2.2 I accept that the HRIC is the owner of the intellectual property rights, including copyright in the information and data provided through the Herbert Information Portal, with the exception of data that is used by the HRIC under a licence agreement with the Queensland State Government and this agreement does not confer on me any rights of ownership in that information and data. 3. PERMITTED USE 3.1 I accept that the use of information and data provided through the Herbert Information Portal, including the licensed data shall be limited to my own personal use or in the ordinary course of my business. I shall not on-sell or distribute information or data for reward to any third party, nor shall I produce any hardcopy products incorporating the licensed data for commercial use except for those hardcopy products I am allowed to give away free of any charges. 4. LIABILITY 4.1 In the event that any limitation or provision contained in this agreement shall be held to be invalid for any reason and the HRIC or the DERM / State of Queensland becomes liable for loss or damage that would otherwise have been lawful to exclude, I agree that such liability shall be limited to the replacement, by the DERM / State of Queensland or HRIC of the data accessed by me.
